Senior Project Manager

Position: Senior Project Manager
Service Sector: Building Science Engineering

OHE Consultants is looking to hire a Senior Project Manager in the area of Building Science Engineering. There are positions for Senior Building Science Project Managers to join our expanding Building Science services delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and managing projects, coordinating staff resources and activities, maintaining effective communication and interaction with clients, contractors and OHE employees involved in the projects.

Qualifications:
• Professional registration/licence (or imminent) in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science or related field preferred;
• Experience and knowledge of major building systems and building construction;
• Minimum 10 years of project management experience in the area of Building Science Engineering (i.e. Assessment, Design, Tendering, Construction Review/Contract Administration);
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Schedule);
• Strategic, operational and technical management skills are an asset.
• Current or potential professional registration as a “Registered Architect", "Architectural Technologist" or “Professional Engineer” is a plus.

Responsibilities:
• Develop restoration programs for structural and/or building envelope (e.g. parking garages, balconies, roofs, walls, windows and doors) and present viable rehabilitation scenarios for the client;
• Prepare bid documents including specifications, scope of work, details and drawings;
• Manage building science projects from conceptual design to final completion;
• Prepare whole building property condition assessments for transactional due diligence following ASTM Standard Guide E 2018-08 and financial studies/life cycle costing for capital planning;
• Prepare reserve fund studies and performance audits for condominiums;
• Review reports, bid documents and guide authors in understanding edits and confirm edits have been made prior to submitting for senior review;
• Coordinate with other environmental, engineering and architectural disciplines;
• Perform contract administration/construction review while implementing work;
• Develop and maintain client base;
• Support existing client relationships;
• Attend industry events for business development purposes;
• Prepare proposals and maintain project file documentation;
• Assist with recruiting, growing the team;
• Mentor and train junior staff;
• Promote and advance OHE’s professional services by employing effective training strategies, supported by an ongoing mentoring program which focuses on skills development and employee engagement and facilitated by continuing job/project specific feedback intended to encourage continuous improvement;

Currently we are actively seeking applications for the position of a Project Specialist with our Building Science Engineering team. The position will be based out of our corporate office in Mississauga.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare bidding documents/ proposals including specifications, scope of work, details and drawings;
• Prepare whole building property condition assessments for transactional due diligence following ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Standard Guide;
• Complete financial studies/life cycle costing for capital planning of projects;
• Prepare reserve fund studies and performance audits for condominiums;

• Perform contract administration/construction review tasks;

Qualifications:
• Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering or Technology program;

Currently we are seeking applications for the position of a Project Specialist with our Occupational Health and Hazmat team. The Project Specialist will work on occupational hygiene and health & safety projects including asbestos and mould investigations and assessments, as well as designated substances surveys.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct inspections during occupational hygiene and health & safety projects including asbestos abatement and mould remediation projects (e.g. containment inspections, progress inspections, clearance visual inspections, etc.);
• Conduct hazardous building materials surveys;
• Conduct bulk and air sampling for asbestos and mould;
• Perform Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) analysis;
• Prepare daily progress reports in a timely and accurate manner;
• Prepare project reports detailing the work completed, applicable regulatory framework, findings, conclusions and recommendations in a timely, accurate and complete manner;
• Supervise contractors during abatement and remediation projects;
• Develop and maintain effective client relationships, enhancing client confidence in OHE and the services provided;
• Ensure on-site activities do not disrupt the client’s normal business operations;
• Provide accurate and scientific records of field data; monitor results and observe site activities. Relay pertinent information to Senior Project Consultants, as appropriate;
• Effectively manage current and upcoming assignments, remaining aware of issues, expectations and progress of all assigned projects;
• Provide support to colleagues as required (e.g. provide appropriate input, suggestions and insights);
• Advise clients in the identification, handling and disposal of hazardous substances in a safe, legal and cost-effective manner under the direction of the Project Manager;

Qualifications:
• A Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Hygiene or Engineering, or a College Diploma in Occupational Hygiene, Health and Safety, Construction, Architectural or Environmental Technology;
• At least 1 -2 years of related experience;
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
• Proficiency with Auto CAD is considered an asset;
